Amplification - Paradis Polybass for your Guitars

The correct amplification of modern guitars is always a subject, but even more so, if you use a Polybass.
Guitars amps are not made for such low bass. But most bass amplifiers can handle the treble of an acoustic guitar even better than a guitar amp anyway. Try Schertler B10 for example.
Often, the best is to connect to the PA directly. Independently of the Polybass, Paradis-Guitars has recommended this way to most of their clients. sure, if you want to play standard rock or imitate some traditional electric guitar, you best use the instrument and equipment of the original.
but in all other cases, its much more practical and probably more comfortable for your public if you use the house system like any other instrument on stage!
here the reasons:

if your system is flat and not distorted, you can always add filtering and distortion. but you cannot switch off the distortion of your guitar amp.
once you are used to a flat system, you are at home everywhere, including on heaphones.
if you create your sound on headphones at home, using some reverb and maybe some effects, preferably polyphonic ones, you can plug in anywhere and sound familiar without carrying along a heavy and delicate amplifier.
traditional guitar speakers are made with thin membranes that bend and distort. this may sound pleasing for some sounds, but it can be tiring
big membranes as project high frequencies very concentrated in one direction. thats why any flat system uses a tweeter or even a horn. if you place a guitar amp on the floor and stand near to it, you will not hear the treble yet blow out the ears of the public directly in front of you. the sound tech suffers to work with you. I know because I have done it for years, with guitar players and sounds that I liked.
many talk about cutting through the band. do you really think that its difficult to hear the guitar? sure, a sound tech will filter the instruments so they do not overlap each other to much, basically giving each one a frequency range. so flat and broad guitars are only the best in a solo or small setup. but once the sound tech creates this filtering why not listen to what he does so you can play according to what the public is listening to?

Distortion is altered in rather unpleasant way if the low frequency of the Polybass is strongly present in the mix you send to the distortion. So if you use a magnetic pickup as well, consider to split the guitar into two or even three way of amplification: the magnetic pickup can go to a typical electric guitar system with distortion effects while the piezo goes to the PA or an acoustic amp and some even want the Polybass effect on a separate channel to keep it dry.
